About Ian
My Background
My favourite time at school was when I was allowed to draw and paint, play footy (Australian rules), attend athletics training, and swim lessons. This love never faded, and eventually, after years of believing the lie that creating art was not a real job and that I was not a normal person, I asked God why I was alive on this planet. Long story short, He replied, and so began the long journey of liberation from mental health issues to who I am today ... a happy and content man in the midst of the world's chaos.
My Medium
I use multiple mediums with my prefered being proffesional oils and alkyds. I believe working in all mediums will not limit my artistic and in fact inspires creative pleasure and excitement on the journey to the finished products. With each medium and substrait the creative expression to manifest the mysteries of my inner world story is fleshed out into the outer world for everyone to make their own judgments.
My Inspiration
I enjoy all things in the natural world, from the stars in the universe to the kinesin proteins in the blood, which are all overshadowed and undergirded by the extraordinary wisdom of God's kindness, goodness, and eternal mysteries. Many of my pieces are directly influenced by my observations in nature after which I lovingly recreate the revelations I see. As I ponder and ask God for His wisdpom and insights of the purpose and wonder from His creative expression I am never not awed by His simple and profound answers.
